991 – Hashem Al-Ghaili on Doing the Same Thing Twice

“No matter how hard you try, you can never do or say the same thing at the same place twice. You are on a planet orbiting it’s star with a speed of 30 km/s. This star travels around the Milky Way Galaxy with a speed of 220 km/s. This galaxy is traveling across the expanding universe with a speed of 600 km/s. By the time you finish reading this paragraph. you would have already moved over 3000 km into a new location in the universe. You can’t go back to the previous location, it’s just gone. I think it would be a waste of space to do a bad deed and leave a black spot in the universe, a spot that can never be filled again with a good deed. Now that you know you can’t do it twice, just think twice.”

-Hashem Al-Ghaili

493 – “Protests and marches eventually die down but that does not mean movements end. They carry on behind the scenes, trudging along to make steady and lasting change. I see the promise of more civically engaged young people doing just this. They are engaged to stand up—whether it is gun violence, immigration rights, or any other issue that will inspire them. But they are not sitting idly by.”
