482 – “Wait for that wisest of all counselors, Time.”

“Τόν γε σοφώτατον οὐχ ἁμαρτήσεται σύμβουλον ἀναμείνας χρόνον.” [See Translation Note]

–Pericles [See Source Note]

Quote Number:  819

Source: Plutarch. Plutarch’s Lives, Vol 3. Translated by Bernadotte Perrin. The Macmillan Co: New York. 1916. Pg 59 or 60. Online Here.

Translation Note: This does not translate exactly as the above quote as it includes the full clause from a Greek source. Online Here.

Source Notes: Note that this is likely not a direct quote as the work, Plutarch’s Lives, was written several centuries (roughly 600 years) after Pericles died. In addition, while historians consider Plutarch’s works invaluable, they unanimously agree that they should not be taken too literally, as he writes about many things neither he nor his contemporaries witnessed.
